Biography: Dr. Wenyu Gao is a skilled statistician and a collaborative interdisciplinary researcher, with expertise in a diverse range of statistical and machine-learning techniques. Before joining UNC Charlotte, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, where she developed an advanced model for improving base quality recalibration in the early stages of cancer. Dr. Gao’s research spans Bayesian methods, clustering techniques, functional analysis, dimensional reduction, optimal transport, graphical models, and causal inference. She is particularly fascinated by the intersection of classical statistical methods and deep learning, reflecting her commitment to exploring innovative approaches. Her work has been applied across various interdisciplinary fields, making significant contributions to city resilience, labor trafficking, metagenomics, environmental health, psychology, and numerous biomedical applications.
