Biography: Dr. Samira Shaikh is an accomplished professional in the fields of Natural Language Processing, Data Science, Computational Sociolinguistics, Cognitive Science, and Artificial Intelligence. Currently, she serves as the Director of Data Science at Ally. Dr. Shaikh leads a team of data scientists and engineers who are responsible for designing, building, and optimizing chatbots, voice assistants, and natural language processing systems for various banking and financial services. In her role, she collaborates closely with product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for conversational AI at Ally.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Shaikh held the position of Senior Research Scientist and Assistant Professor at the Research Foundation of the State University of New York (SUNY) and UNC Charlotte, respectively. During her tenure, she conducted cutting-edge research and delivered impactful teaching in data mining, natural language processing, and machine learning. Her research has been supported by prestigious institutions such as DARPA, ONR, ARO, NSF, and AFRL, highlighting the significance and quality of her contributions. Dr. Shaikh holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University at Albany, SUNY.
