Graduate SDS Student Council

The SDS Student Council represents the voices of students in the Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA) and Health Informatics and Analytics (HIA) graduate programs. We work to strengthen our academic and professional community by leading initiatives, planning events, and creating opportunities for collaboration and connection.

Whether you’re looking to get involved, attend events, or have ideas to improve the student experience — we’re here for you!

To build an inclusive and connected student community across SDS programs by:

  • Organizing professional and social events
  • Advocating for student needs
  • Supporting academic and career growth
  • Fostering cross-program collaboration

The Graduate Student Council hosts a variety of events and initiatives throughout the academic year to build our data science community.

Information about our events can be found on our Instagram (@sdsstudentorg) and are sent to enrolled DSBA and HIAN students via email. You can also stay connected via Instagram.

Some recurring and upcoming events/initiatives include:

  • Professional Panels/Q&As: Industry experts share insights, experiences, and advice to help you navigate the professional world.
  • Workshops: Interactive workshops designed to build skills, deepen knowledge, and provide data science experience.
  • Coffee & Social Hours: Connect with peers, professionals, and mentors over coffee and drinks!
  • Networking Sessions: Connect with data science enthusiasts, professionals, and recruiters for meaningful conversations and career insights.

Officers are responsible for the planning, hosting, and management of all sides of the Student Council. They are nominated and voted on through forms sent to all enrolled DSBA and HIAN students via email.
