Biography:
Aileen Benedict is excited to teach in both Computer Science and Data Science at UNC Charlotte, the place she proudly continues to call her academic home. Her work spans artificial intelligence, recommender systems, human-centered AI, AI ethics, data mining, and CS education, with a focus on using data-driven and AI-assisted approaches to support well-being, learning, and decision-making. She has developed recommender systems for music therapy in collaboration with a practicing therapist and for supporting students navigating academic challenges through analytics, natural language insights, and responsible AI design. As a lecturer, she is passionate about student-centered teaching and exploring how AI and data science can be used responsibly to improve education.
